Brambles Special Breeds - Angora Goats, Kune Kune Pigs and Poultry
Welcome to Brambles!
NEW: Brambles are now sponsoring Worcestershire's Young Volunteer of the Year winner Nathan, after meeting Team GB's olympic champion Zac Purchase (Rower) and paralympic champion Mel Clarke (Archer) at the Worcester Cricket Ground sporting awards. Brambles relies heavily on volunteers and would like to thank all volunteers from all walks of life.
Our smallholding is situated in the base of the Malvern Hills, which has the added bonus of being in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The Malvern Hills AONB was designated in 1959 and the area is famed for its dramatic hills and for the pure spring water that flows from them but the AONB offers so much more besides. The area is home to a wide variety of wildlife.
It was whilst visiting a country Fair at Eastnor Castle that I came across Angora goats. After a discussion on what was involved in how to care for them, we decided to invest in four does and they were two sets of twins.
In the case of our Angora goats which are a pure breed pedigree animal plus are accredited stock, they have certain requirements in regard to keeping them near other animals. We have to make sure they don’t have contact with sheep on the common and therefore have fencing as well as hedging.
Other animals on our smallholding are Kune Kune Pigs, Pygmy and Angora goats, a variety of rare breed chickens and rabbits!
If you have land that you would like to keep animals such as these or are looking for help and advice in setting up a smallholding, whether its how to see what's involved in their day to day care or to purchase any of the above mentioned animals please contact us.
